XIII Silver Sterckshof Assignments 1996-2008

Since 1996, the Silver Museum Sterckshof in the Province of Antwerp gives an annual assignment to a Belgian silversmith to create a work of art for the museum collection. An overview of the 13 Sterckshof assignments will be presented in the Design Flanders Gallery from 27 March to 26 April 2009.

With the annual Sterckshof assignment, the Silver Museum takes on an active role in stimulating contemporary silver design. One of the basic criteria is that the silversmiths create a work that is representative of their oeuvre, and that they also push their artistic and technical boundaries.
The most important asset for the (usually) young silversmiths is to be found in the opportunity to create a representative work for EUR 8,700. The fact that the work is taken up in a museum collection is also an important extra factor, as is the public attention gained through presentation and publication.

Nedda is one of the silversmiths who had this exceptional opportunity offered to them. The fact that the selection of these designers is based on both talent and quality is proved by the great deal of regional and international recognition that they have received in the meantime.
